TIME, TALENT AND TECHNIQUE!

Although DAB was often punished in grammar school for his refusal to stop coloring on the desks and walls, his talent was too strong for our education system to stifle. DAB WAS BORN TO PAINT! After formal studies at Georgia Southern, DAB became an apprentice to master drawer, B.J. Watkins.

Upon completion of his apprenticeship, DAB wanted to hone his skills and study the works of the great masters.  This desire to reach perfection moved DAB to travel extensively throughout Europe. The Hermetic Cubism of Picasso and Braque captivated DAB's attention the most; and although not aesthetically pleasing, it remains in DAB's opinion the most innovative concept to date.

His intrigue with the fauvists' powerful use of color led DAB on a new adventure to study the rhythmic use of colors found in South America and the Caribbean.  These days DAB can be found painting in the cobblestone streets of Charleston, where he will be happy to explain DABISM and show you his Dabistic™ technique.

The ingredients for success in the art world include time, talent and technique!

DAB and his Dabistic™ technique include all three!

Artist Statement:: I'm thankful for the opportunity to express myself through my artwork.  I expend much time trying to capture the full spectrum of color in my paintings.  I often find myself in awe of the gamut of colors along the horizon at sunrise; what a great artist--Mother Nature.  I'm happiest when I have a painting and/or drawing tool in my hand.  In essence, I feel like a fish out of water when I'm not producing art.
